Frequently asked questions
1/ I need to choose a time slot, but where do I go at that time?
You need to go to the château entrance, which is a 10-minute walk from the estate entrance.
However, you can enter the chateau grounds as soon as they open at 9am.
2/ Why do I need a time slot to enter the château?
As Chenonceau is a small château, we limit the number of people who can enter the château, in order to enhance the quality of the visit. As a result, we ask visitors to choose a time slot for entering the château.
3/ Why do you say that "online booking is compulsory"?
We don't say that online booking is compulsory, but that booking a time slot is a prerequisite for entry to the château.
You can of course buy your tickets online, as you can at the Château de Chenonceau ticket office. However, to be sure of getting your ideal time slot, it's best to do so online.
If all the slots are full, it will not be possible to visit Château de Chenonceau.
4/ I've bought a ticket but I don't have a time slot, can I come whenever I want ?
If you have a ticket without a time slot, we strongly advise you to book your time slot online via this link:

You can also exchange your tickets at the Château de Chenonceau ticket office, but it's possible that a time slot is already full.
5/ How much time should I allow for a full tour of the estate?
You should allow between 2 and 4 hours for a full tour of the estate.
6/ Can I only see the gardens?
There is no ticket to visit only the gardens. Each ticket entitles the holder to visit the château at a specific time, and the gardens and exhibition galleries according to the estate's opening hours.
7/ Can I eat on the estate?
Yes, we have a self-service restaurant next to the château where you can eat or have a drink.
